| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Not the best I bought a Manttra pressure cooker to replace an ancient, heavy aluminum Mirro that had become warped after running dry. I wish I hadn't -- even when new, the Manttra's gasket tended to leak, and now that it's older (5 years?), it leaks steam and water all over the stove during use. Manttra gaskets are not readily available in stores.
The handles constantly get loose; the screws holding them frequently need to be re-tightened. The heatproof top of the pressure weight (my model has a weight that sets on the top of the lid) fell off and was lost shortly after I got it. The pressure is not adjustable -- only one setting. The metal is thin, and food tends to scorch on the bottom (even when simmering at lowest heat). The rack that goes inside the pan isn't tall enough to keep food out of the water (when this is desired). The capacity (6 qts.) is not really large enough for a big meal like pot roast with potatoes and vegetables.
In short, this pan aggravates me every time I use it, which is often. I'm planning to replace this with a new pressure cooker, probably one of the top-rated Prestos. In fact, I think I'll go do that now. + See Full Customer Review | |
